
Michael Stumvoll is Professor of Medicine at the University of Leipzig and Director of the Divisions of Endocrinology and Nephrology at the University Hospital. He graduated (MD) from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich in 1989, took posts in the UK, at the University of Tübingen, Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation, San Diego, the University of Rochester, NY, and the NIH in Phoenix. His research interests include the regulation of glucose metabolism and the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes, the genetics of diabetes and obesity, neuroendocrine control of appetite and adipose tissue as secretory organ and the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
