The cover image shows the developing human pancreas at 15 weeks of gestation (haematoxylin and eosin staining). Pancreatic epithelial structures appear to expand by branching morphogenesis and appear as duct-like and islet-like structures surrounded by paler mesenchymal tissue. The epithelia are largely undifferentiated and have few endocrine cells scattered in small groups (not shown). See Sarkar et al. (51: 285-297).
